Distinguished by its thick, fine, silky coat and its tail with a ring curl at the end, the breed acquired its unique features in the cold mountains of Afghanistan, where it was originally used to hunt wolves, foxes, and gazelles. Its local name is Tāzī (Persian: تازی). Other alternate names for this breed are Balkh Hound, Baluchi Hound, Barutzy Hound and Kabul Hound. Appearance The Afghan Hound is tall, standing 24 to 29 inches (63-74 cm) in height and weighing 45 to 60 pounds (20-30 kg). The coat may be any colour, but white markings, particularly on the head, are discouraged; many individuals have a black facial mask. Some are almost white, but particolour hounds (white with islands of red or black) are not acceptable and may indicate impure breeding. The long, fine-textured coat requires considerable care and grooming. The long topknot and the shorter-haired saddle on the back in the mature dog are distinctive features of the Afghan Hound coat. The high hipbones and unique small ring on the end of the tail are also characteristics of the breed. The Borzoi The Borzoi is a breed of dog also called the Russian Wolfhound. They have medium-length, slightly curly hair and are similar in shape to Greyhounds. They are a member of the sighthound family. The plural Borzois may be found in dictionaries. However, the Borzoi Club of America asserts Borzoi is the preferred form for both singular and plural. At least one manual of grammatical style rules that the breed name should not be capitalized except at the beginning of a sentence; again, breed fanciers usually differ, and capitalize it wherever found.

По поводу клонирования... Первый клон афганов в Корее - Снуппи прекрасно здравствует... Его прототип - собака, американского разведения. Почему именно афганы - очень просто - человек, который непосредственно в научной группе по клонированию - владелец этого кобеля из америки... Я с ним общалась, когда была в Корее. Доктор наук ну и т п. Да, действительно, существуют 3 клона Джессики. Фото ее взрослой у меня имеется. Сейчас от нее щенки были на продаже в Корее. Различные фото клонов у меня также есть. Если интересно - поставлю. Да, официально клоны признаваться не будут - это чисто наука. Также корейцы планируют в дальнейшем этих клонов вязать между собой - т.е. Снуппи с клоном Джессики. Seven cloned puppies named Toppy - Tomorrow's Puppy - were born in 2007 to three surrogate mothers under a state-funded project. The Toppies have apparently passed the first round of tests for behavioural patterns and genetic qualities. "They will report for duty in June after completing a second round of training," said Korea Customs Service spokesman Lee Ho. The £150,000 project was carried out by Lee Byung-Chun, who played a key role in the world's first successful cloning of a dog by creating Snuppy - a duplicate of a three-year-old Afghan Hound. This time he used cells from sniffer dog Chase, a Golden Retriever, to clone the Toppies. Project manager Lim Jae-Yong said that training clones of a skilled sniffer dog is easier than training ordinary canines. "The project was successful," he said, "This is the first time that cloned dogs have been used as sniffer dogs." Lee, a former colleague of disgraced cloning scientist Hwang Woo-Suk, has led his own research team since Hwang was charged in 2006 with fraud, embezzlement, ethical breaches and other charges. Hwang, once hailed as a national hero before a university inquiry ruled some of his work was fake, is now on trial.
